Key purposes for search filtering.
A key’s purpose describes the cryptographic role it is intended for
(signing, encryption, key exchange, etc.). This is orthogonal to the
raw KeyAlgorithm — e.g. an AES key may be used for either
Encryption or Decryption.
Variants§
Signing
Digital signature generation
Verification
Signature verification
Encryption
Data encryption
Decryption
Data decryption
KeyExchange
Key exchange / key agreement
Authentication
Authentication / identity proof
Derivation
Key derivation
Hashing
Hashing / fingerprinting
