Local is preferred; remote is opt-in and metered.

Variants

LocalEngine

The native in-process engine. model_id = None means “use the principal’s currently-active model”; Some pins a specific model.

RemoteMcp

An external provider reached over its MCP interface.

• endpoint — human-readable label / base address of the provider.
• transport — how the MCP client actually connects (see McpTransport).
• infer_tool — the MCP tool name to call for inference; None lets the client pick its default.
• model — the remote model identifier to request; None uses the provider’s default.
